is my analysis too cliche?

Okay, so writing this paper is actually coming along well! After getting some pointers on how to fix things from Dr. Hanrahan, Leah, and Austin I have become confident in finishing this paper. While writing the paper I noticed tat other people have deeper analysis in their essays. I started to feel discouraged. My argument is very simple, that there is a longing for connection in both the characters and the cast. I know that I can make a well written paper, but I’m worried that it isn't deep enough of an analysis. I don’t know. Sorry about this kind of whiny rant. All in all I am getting my shit done and my room is clean and organized, and that makes me happy. So I will keep working on this paper and when it is done I will feel proud. What problems have you guys had with writing/ revising your papers? I really would love to hear!!!

Have a great weekend!!!!

  3. I've been having issues incorporating scenes into the movie, because I don't want to make it seem like a review. I think your analysis is a good one. A lot of these movies have multiple points for analysis. I don't think yours is cliche at all. You might bring something out that wasn't addressed before. You might add new meaning to this idea. I think it will be a great paper, and if your confident in it, the writing and ideas in your paper are probably just as confident which makes for a good paper.

  4. Sabrina: I don't think it's cliched. (I would have told you if I did!) I do think, like we talked about, you want to make sure you show us the ways your idea runs through the film--in ways that we might not have realized. Thus, you need good close readings of scenes. That's the key.

  5. I enjoyed your paper Sabrina. Simple is not bad by any means. Although you argue a simple point, it's meaningful & you make good connections throughout your paper. I do agree with Dr. Hanrahan, just do some close reading! You have a great paper :-)
