Comfort Level

I wanted to quote Lauro when she stated, “A zombie is, at every turn, precisely this: a body that has been stripped of the person it once was, acting in a manner that is completely out of character, or seemingly devoid of what we used to call a soul”, this idea has been mentioned in quite a few of our classes. Keeping in thought the more we try to understand zombies the more comfortable and less afraid we are going to be later if we meet one. I see the effects of change through studying, example, science was discouraged for a long period in medieval times because it clashed with the idea of God. Could researching zombies so much actually make us less afraid and better prepared? And if so, what comfort level would you be at if one was standing in front of you?

  1. If I were face to face with a zombie, I would be terrified, without a question. I think reading and learning about zombies allows us to possibly understand them more. However, to say one would be prepared to be face to face with a man eating monster is a little bit of a jump. It's hard to say how one would react until they're in that position. But, speaking for myself, I would be terrified.

  3. I think researching and fearing zombies is preparing us better for a lot of situations really, rather it be an outbreak of the undead or an outbreak of humans infected with another disease. If I were to come face to face with a zombie, I think that I would be uncomfortable with it, but able to function.

  4. I suppose Im a heartless person but if there was a zombie in-front of me, there is no question in my mind I would do whatever is necessary to survive. I would not seek to harm it unless I had no choice, yes I said it. I don't agree with Lauro. I see her point of view, and I understand, but when it comes down to it, I personally would not second guess humanity of my actions when peoples lives are on the line. You don't have time to think about that in stressful situation. Its a flight or fight response.I hate to be like that but that's the bottom line. I don't wish to invite things like that into my life, nor am I saying its OK. What I am saying its whatever you had to do, to get home alive, is what you had to do.

  5. If a zombie was in front of me, I would honestly freak out. I would see a human form in front of me and think that it was someone who was under the influence of something or having a bad day. I would probably try to see if could help the person out, only to be attacked. So basically I would die quite early on in a zombie outbreak.
