After a long two weeks...

Hi guys,
I think we can all agree midterm and post midterm is a stressful time for everyone. I have been going through an immense amount of stress. It's hard to keep up sometimes. Being pulled in ten different directions from applying for housing, studying for tests, summer job applications, it's a lot on everyone's plates. I've found a new outlet for relieving my stress is working out. I have never been much of a "gym activist" normally I eat my feelings. However, with spring and summer approaching I've found that working out is such a useful outlet for stress. In this link, it discusses different ways to approach stress and techniques to keep your stress levels low. http://www.helpguide.org/articles/stress/relaxation-techniques-for-stress-relief.htm
I encourage everyone to read this and try to find some outlet for stress that works most efficiently for them.  Some techniques include deep breathing, meditation, yoga, and tai chi. I am actually doing meditation Monday with Sabrina on Monday and am so excited for it.
Well, sorry for the lack of class content but I found this useful with the amount of stress I'm sure everyone is under.
Well, my question for you guys is, what method if you have one do you use now to releive stress?
Love, Leah.

  1. I too have a weird balance between stress eating and stress exercising. More often than not I'll be eating chocolate while hoopla-hooping, haha. It's great that you've found an outlet that works for you. I meditate twenty minutes before bed to boot, because it helps to clear your mind and prepare you for sleep. As for yoga, Mellow Moods in town has a studio inside, and it's absolutely fabulous. I wish I didn't have work during meditation on Monday's, cause I'd totally be there! Keep up what works for you :)

  2. I wish that I could fall back on exercising. When I have tried it as stress relief I find that I become more stressed because I feel like I'm neglecting my other duties and my dogs. It becomes one more thing I have to do in my day. But I anyone wants to volunteer to clean my house or spend time with my dogs so I don't feel guilty going to the gym I'll give you my number. I tend to sleep so much more when I become stressed because it is the only way my mind isn't racing.

  3. meditation and yoga! They are the best for me! But I do agree with you leah, I tend to eat rather than exercise. If i'm not eating then Im cleaning like a mad woman. (Which I have been doing). Organization is a great way to relieve stress and not feel so cluttered!!!! :D Im excited to go to meditation with you on Monday!!!!

  4. I have to agree that exercise is a great method. I go to the gym and work out every day that I can. I do miss wrestling though. I like working out, but wrestling is fun and pretty intense. I wrestled with my high school team a little this semester, but it's hard with school and other stuff to do that, plus the season is over. I want to do something else, but I have to find some places that offer what I want and check them out. Although food is pretty good too...
