Well, I certainly feel like one of the Walking Dead this week. For those of you not involved with the theatre world, allow me to explain the concept of Tech Week. Tech Week is the week before a show opens. You have rehearsal every night, and it usually goes until at least 11:00PM. It's when you introduce all the stuff that makes it fun, and makes it complicated, like sets, costumes, make-up, an orchestra, and any sound equipment. Suddenly the piece you've been rehearsing for six to eight weeks becomes an entirely new animal. It's fun, but it's an exhausting fun.
So, while I'm not complaining, because I'm doing what I love, the lack of sleep certainly takes a toll on my energy levels throughout the day. If you see me on campus this week there's a good chance I'll be walking a bit slower than usual, not unlike the Zombies we've been studying all semester, other than those crazy World War Z/28 Days Later zombies, I will be looking nothing like that.
Lastly I'm going to do a bit of shameless self promotion! It would mean the world to me if any of you guys would come see me in the Shepherd University Scene Stealers' production of Little Women this weekend! We've been working hard, and all that hard work is really paying off. The shows are Friday and Saturday at 8PM and Sunday at 3PM. Performances are at Reynolds Hall. Tickets are $15 dollars for adults, $10 for non-Shepherd students, and $7 for Shepherd shepherd (bring your Rambler). You can buy your tickets in advance at Scenestealers.weebly.com/current-season.
I hope you are making it through Hell Week (as us Rudes call it). I really want to attend this musical, and I will try my hardest to come see it on Sunday! I have never seen a Scene Stealers' play but I bet I will absolutely love it!

ReplyDeleteI'm definitely going to try to make it to the one Sunday as well! I loved Little Women the film so I'm sure I'll love the play. I hope you're making it through this stressful week. I've been running on 0 sleep and it's been exhausting to say the least. I'm looking forward to Sunday now!
ReplyDeleteAustin, I feel for you. These past two weeks have been so full of assignments I can't imagine finding time for homework in between all of the rehearsals. I hope that you are better at time management than I am.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that it was that intense the week before a performance, but I mean it makes sense. I'm sure you all will be fantastic! I love the Little Women movies I've seen so this would be interesting to see. I will also do my best to make it to one of the shows.
