Help me on my essay!

I have a request.
Tomorrow in class I would like some of you to watch a 17 minute section of "What Lies Ahead", the episode of The Walking Dead that I am focusing on for my essay. I want to get your impressions of whether the message of religion is positive or negative and incorporate your responses as evidence in my paper.
I have a Netflix account to allow viewership and I am just hoping for a short response from my peers. I know that this is time given to work on your papers in class so I understand if that is your first priority. I just thought that it could add a new angle to my argument. Thanks in advance.

  3. Alright, so here are my thoughts on the episode: I was raised Lutheran, still attend Lutheran church every Sunday (to appease ma), but am an atheist. I am not ignorant when it comes to religion and people's beliefs, but I do think that there is a common denominator in religion; Simply put: People want to go to heaven. In times of crisis (or zombie apocalypses) there's a need for God, and to look for some higher power to feel safe. I think the shows message near the end was either that God was saying, "Hey sorry guys, you're screwed." Or that there's not really religious involvement that's going to save anyone in this zombie apocalypse. Also, as Hanrahan said, I think symbolism plays a much larger role than logic in these episodes. The wedding zombies would already be gone out of the church to find food, and the Jesus (complete with zombie splatter!) wouldn't be there either.

    Hope this helps, Meghan!
