"Walking Dead" my thoughts

So, last night I was watching “The Walking Dead” for the first time. I have never really liked shows or movies that depicted a “what if” aspect, just because I feel like it is very unnecessary. With that being said I never really had a knack for the whole zombie idea.
Despite what I mentioned, I can say that I found some things that I ended up liking. I really liked the gore factor and the special effects. See, I’m one of those freaks that absolutely loves to watch horror flicks just for the gore and the pain that happens to others (hence why in class on Wednesday I was so quite when we were talking about SAW). I LOVE SAW, I am probably the ultimate fan girl of ANYTHING blood related! The more real it looks the more I get excited about it!
I also love the fact that in this show, “The Walking Dead” the writers chose to show the human connection to zombies. This made me feel sad for the zombies, especially the one that had no legs… SO SAD L
I really like that there is a lot of symbolism that is very subtle. This shows that the writers possibly wanted more out of their audience, rather than SHOOT IT IS A DEAD THING.

All in all, I think I may give this show a chance.. but it still isn’t as good as SAW or American Horror Story.. just sayin’.

OH P.S. I am a HUGE special effects nerd.. and to prove such here is my boyfriend and I on Hallow's Eve... he was my murderer and I his victim :3

So not the best picture... but eh I can't find the good one

  1. My husband and I had never watched an episode of the Walking Dead so last night we watched it right before bed. We were both commenting on parts of the story that didn't make any sense to us.I find myself doing this more during shows or movies that scare me because I am trying to reason with my own fear and talk myself out of being afraid. And I was afraid watching the door turning scene.
I also enjoyed watching the show, and it may be a new series for us to watch together. However, the parts that didn't make any sense really bothered me. I just can't get over how many times he went out of his way to put that hat on. In the horse scene where its on the pole, then it cuts and its back on his head. Maybe it will become a more important symbol later on. But for right now, its just a really big hat.

  2. I would definitely have to agree with you about symbolism in this show. It dominates. I also enjoyed how they put that human side in there too. It makes the show more relatable and adds another dimension to the show instead of it just being about zombies. I think a lot of recent movies and shows may have tried to do this by creating a different aspect to the creature, but this show is the most effective in making them seem more than just a zombie. They were once people too like Rick say's in the show.
