Zombies are a distraction in today's generation

Okay, so first off, I never thought I would like this class so much. I find it very intriguing that there is a strong history behind this "Zombie" phenomenon.  The reading that we had due today, that talked about the Haitian version of the zombie really sparks curiosity in me. Although, I am a strong believer in the practice of magick I like that there can be a lot of, not only scientific hypotheses, but also some articles of evidence.
I think that the zombie phenomenon going on in this generation is not from the mystery of such history, but I can agree with David Sirota. He brings to light the idea of zombies being a sort of scape goat for the problems that are happening in today’s society. Entertainment has been used for years for a sort of coping mechanism for citizens during times of any uncomfortable area of time.

I apologize for this post being short, I plan on adding more to this discussion after feedback from some others.

  1. I agreed with you when you said in class the other day about how Sirota's article wasn't necessarily interesting because it was about zombies in society, but because it shed light on and made complicated issues much more easier to understand. The phenomenon of this character is crazy. I think more research will actually be kind of fun. It is pretty interesting that something so fictional has been pretty real (just not exactly the same way as portrayed) forever. Like what you were saying before class this morning about people faking their own deaths.
