Good evening everybody!
A lot more often than not, I like to post twice on here, just because it's a good outlet. I want to tell you guys about my Praxis. For people who aren't majoring in education, let me explain.
When you finish high school, you think, "oh thank GOD I'll never have to take a freaking ACT or SAT ever again." Wellp, college flushed my dreams right down the toilet.
Praxis Core is three tests composed of writing, reading & mathematics. You have to get a certain score along with creating a portfolio of accomplishments and documents certifying you're on the right direction towards being a teacher in order to actually get admitted into the teaching program. This is Juncture one.
I already took Praxis Core once before, and it went horribly. I lost my glasses, it was dark and rainy so I couldn't see, my GPS died on the way there, the testing center was under construction, and I was completely lost as to where to go even though I got there an hour early. Enough time to have a panic attack. Needless to say, I didn't get a good enough score to pass the writing & math, but passed reading. I just took my writing exam on Wednesday, and I must say that I absolutely KILLED it.
Everything that we've been doing in class lately absolutely over prepared me for the exam. If you even only take one exam for the time being, then take the writing one now. I guarantee you'll do well.
Next Wednesday I'll be taking my mathematics exam, and I'm terrified for.
Today at work I was doing a practice exam that my godfather had bought me from the praxis website. Please, don't fret. I was still working. I work at telecommunications and answer phone calls all day; luckily, I'm an amazing multitasker. Anyways, I was taking the exam and I nearly started tearing up, because the questions were unreasonably hard. Until I realized that Godpoppa had gotten me the wrong one and I was doing mathematics education major tier two work.
Thank. God.
Does anyone else have to take this test or have already taken it? Please let me know, I'd be interested to hear!
Night everyone!
Love,
Laura
I do not have to take it but it sounds HORRIBLE.
ReplyDeleteI WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK ON YOU PRAXIS TEST.
Thank you so much! I appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteI am SO terrified of the praxis! I really want to pass it to become an educator, and eventually a professor. The reading and writing will probably be a breeze, but math obviously isn't my strong point! I wish I could trade out math with something I'm good at like french :P anywho, I wish you well Laura!!! I believe you'll do great, and someday you will make a kick ass teacher!!! YOU GO GIRL!!!
ReplyDeleteI happy that you feel great about the exam! I know that you were worried about it!
ReplyDeleteI'm nervous for taking Praxis! But this made me feel much better. It's good to know this class will be a good prep for the writing portion. I'm glad you did well!
