Happy Friday!
Hi guys,
Ugh it's been such a long and stressful week, I think we can all agree on that. However, I stumbled upon an interesting article that I think you guys might enjoy. Here is the link - http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424127887323611604578398952000653448 This article is giving us the reasoning behind why our society links zombies to modern day problems. In this quote, "One of the strengths of the horror genre is that it allows people to talk about present-day problems without addressing them straight-on. The moment zombies are added to the mix, a dry public policy problem suddenly becomes a game of sorts, accessible to ordinary citizens." I completely agree with this. I also think it links really well with some of the other posts from this week when we discussed how the zombie genre can relate to anything. Well, in this quote the author explains why. He said, "it allows people to talk about present-day problems without addressing them straight on."
Well, here's my question for you guys.
Do you think the use of the zombie genre when relating it to different topics in today's society is a way to beat around the bush for our modern day problems?
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Leah :-)
